Year of the Ballerina

Ballerinas are beautiful, there is no doubt of that. Their style, their muscles, their thin limbs, their slick buns, the minimal makeup. It's when they're training and wearing shrugs, leg warmers, old tutus--that they possess the most beautiful and age-old style. Thanks Kanye and Darren Arnofsky for bringing light and newness to awesome ballerina style!

Black Swan, watch it! Most will find it uber disturbing and hard to shake, as I did, but Arnofsky is king of the intimate portraits of the deranged and obsessed. Natalie was prissy and lovely, Mila Kunis played a vapid, jealous bitch, Winona Ryder was insanity on wheels, and it was pretty much my girl crush club sandwich.
